Ducati Diavel Diesel Limited Edition

... we're talking about the fashion firm, Diesel, and not diesel as in Rudolph Diesel's oil-fuelled engines. The news is that the two companies (Ducati and Diesel) have recently teamed up to produce what's been described as a "'hyperkinetic dynamism of a post-apocalyptic, retro-futuristic world." But no doubt some would describe this statement simply as "another pile of pretentious marketing crap aimed at pretentious crapheads living a way-too-cosy lifestyle in a soft, self-indulgent pre-apocalyptic fantasy world."

We wouldn't be so unkind. All of us, after all, have our foibles and idiosyncrasies, and if that revolves around gunning it down the High Street astride one of these motorcycles whilst dressed in combat trousers, a flak jacket and a Darth Vader mask, that's you're own business, and the world can suck it up.

Meanwhile, while we can (just about, if we squint) see the appeal of this limited-edition urban assault weapon, it wouldn't find a spot in the Sump garage, not unless it arrived there for free.

Ducati Motor Holding CEO Claudio Domenicali has been quoted as saying: "The collaboration with Diesel enabled us to explore original stylistic and technical aspects whilst staying within the Ducati brand and fully respecting its values. In this case we worked with Diesel on an already uniquely original bike like the Diavel and the result was surprising to put it mildly. The details characterizing the Diavel Diesel cannot fail to captivate connoisseurs of special bikes but also people from different walks of life, such as fashion. It’s always stimulating for us to move outside the world of motorcycling and widen our brand’s areas of interest."

Note the phrase "uniquely original". Wow. Poetry. And the best thing about this Duke is that 666 will be built. See? They've managed to throw a little Satanism into an already dangerous mix.

Finally, before you part with your money, the crucial thing to remember about fashion is that it goes out of fashion. And the more fashionable it is, the faster it dates.
