The 10th Golden Era Run

This gathering is organised by the North East Section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC), and it will be centred at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York. The primary focus is to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. For 2018, an additional theme will be the role played by allied motorcycle in various theatres of war over the past century, but more notably during WW1 (note that the VMCC requires run participants to ride machines at least 25 years old). Motorcycles and three-wheelers manufactured before January 1931 are eligible. The event was founded by VMCC members Noel Whittall and Ian Jennings, and riders are invited to come along and enjoy the Yorkshire Wolds in the best way possible; i.e. on a classic bike. No details have been offered regarding times, so just get there as early as possible and/or check with the VMCC.

Pioneer Run eBook:

What's it all about? Well, it's a photoshoot of the world's greatest veteran motorcycle run with poetry and quotes from Ixion to John Masefield to William Shakespeare to William Wordsworth. It's unique (as far as we know) and has been downloaded thousands of times from both the Sump website and the website of the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club. Think of it as poetry in motion. It's a treat. Sorry, it's not available in hardcopy or for Macs.
